Tapestry
Tapestry is a secure online learning journal helping school and families celebrate your children’s learning and development. This is a wonderful way for you to view and look back on your child’s learning and experiences. Parents are encouraged to add comments, photos, observations or videos of your child’s achievements out of school too.
We also use Tapestry to share information and notices about upcoming school events. The schools newsletter “Rednal Rag” and year group challenges are added to Tapestry weekly to keep parents up to date on the different things that we are learning about in class.
What is Tapestry’s website address?
How does Tapestry work?
Tapestry provides each individual child with their own Learning Journal held online. Parents and carers are given their own log-in using their email and password. Staff upload observations, photos or videos; recording children’s achievements and assessing their learning.
Who can access Tapestry?
Parents are able to access Tapestry by letting school know the e-mail addresses that you wish to link with the system (limited to 2 per child). These can be updated or added to at any time by visiting the school office or speaking to your child’s class teacher.
Where do I start?
Once you have given school an email address, an email will be generated for you to activate your Tapestry account. Go to https://eylj.org/ on your computer.
Or, if you have an iPhone/iPad visit the iTunes store and download the Tapestry app from the Education section (search for Tapestry Mobile).
If you have an Android/Tablet, search for Tapestry learning journal and down load.
Login using your email address and password. It will also ask you to generate a pin when you’re setting up your password details. This can be any 4 digit code and makes logging in quicker and easier.
How can I view my child’s Learning Journals?
Once logged in, you will see your child’s observations on your home screen in a list – selecting any one of these will open up the observation for you to look at. You may add comments in the box at the bottom of the observation if you would like to - we enjoy receiving comments! You are also able to ‘like’ any of the observations by clicking on the ‘like’ button displayed at the top of each observation.
How do I know that my child’s Learning Journal has been updated?
The system will automatically send you an email when an observation for your child has been added or a notification on the app.
How do I add an entry to my child’s Learning Journal?
Choose the ‘Add Observation’ option (or the 'plus' icon on your iPhone/iPad/Android) and add the relevant information in the boxes on screen. Photos and videos may be uploaded by choosing the ‘add media’ option. When you have saved your observation, you may go back to the home screen at any time by choosing ‘home’.
